ALEX’S LEMONADE STAND FOUNDATION VISITS COLLINSVILLE, ILLINOIS ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 1 AND SATURDAY, AUGUST 2, 2008
Nine-year-old Bryce Kelly hosts Third Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand
Nine-year-old Collinsville, IL resident Bryce Kelly, along with family and friends, will honor the memory of T.J. McKee by hosting their Third Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand on Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2, 2008 from 7am – 8pm at 704 Caseyville Road, Collinsville, IL. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a national movement to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for all childhood cancers. Along with partially squeezed fresh lemonade, the two-day event will be complete with hot dogs, raffle items and a toy drive. Donations from the toy drive will be delivered to pediatric centers at various area hospitals.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). At the age of 4, Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501©3 charity, has raised more than $17 million towards fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 50 research projects nationally. This summer marks the 5th Annual Lemonade Days on June 6, 7 and 8, when volunteers across the country host lemonade stands simultaneously.
