… CARRIE UNDERWOOD’s win for Entertainer of the Year marks the first time a solo female country artist has won the award since 1999, since SHANIA TWAIN won. The DIXIE CHICKS won the award in 2000, but only a handfull of solo females have taken the honor. They are: LORETTA LYNN (1975), DOLLY PARTON (1977), BARBARA MANDRELL (1980), REBA MCENTIRE (1994) and SHANIA TWAIN (1999).

… CARRIE UNDERWOOD is only the third female in ACM history to win both Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year in the same year. The other two were REBA MCENTIRE in 1994 and LORETTA LYNN in 1975.

… BROOKS & DUNN kicked off the show with Play Something Country, which was interspersed with partial performances by TAYLOR SWIFT, RASCAL FLATTS, CARRIE UNDERWOOD and SUGARLAND.

… TIM MCGRAW pulled out of the show as a performer after a last minute dispute with producers, according to Access Hollywood. He is expected to still perform as part of the GEORGE STRAIT Tribute special tonight (Monday).

… RASCAL FLATTS scored their seventh win for Vocal Group of the Year, an ACM record, surpassing ALABAMA’s six.

… TAYLOR SWIFT performed You’re Not Sorry, then was presented with the ACM Crystal Milestone Award by REBA MCENTIRE. The honor recognized her for helping bring country music back to younger audiences and for being the best selling country artist so far in 2009.

… JOHN RICH did a great acoustic rendition of his song Shuttin’ Detroit Down.

… LEANN RIMES received the ACM Home Depot Humanitarian Award for her work with the Children’s Miracle Network, the Humane Society of the United States, and other causes.

… BRAD PAISLEY sent a pre-recorded message thanking the ACM for his Top Male Vocalist award and apologizing to fans for not attending the awards. He didn’t want to miss the birth of he and wife Kim’s second child.

… CARRIE UNDERWOOD gave a stirring performance of I Told You So in a large ballroom gown that seemed to flow across the entire stage.
