PIA WAS NEVER A FRONTRUNNER _ Viewers and judges alike were shocked on Thursday when (apparent) frontrunner Pia Toscano was booted from “American Idol.” Now, Nigel Lythgoe, the show’s executive producer, says that despite the popular perception, the New York native was never as close to the title as many believed. Nigel says: “Number one, I know the results so I know she was never a frontrunner. But when I heard that she was going, I was pretty upset — angry, you could say. But the more I’ve sort of thought about it, the more I’ve calmed down, I’ve realized that at the end of the day, this is going to happen every week now because the talent is so strong.”
PIA HAS A RECORD DEAL _ Literally within hours of being voted off of American Idol, Pia Toscano scored a record deal. The 22 year-old rising star was signed by Interscope Records. Interscope also knows that timing is everything and the company is reportedly rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP.
