MOST BIZARRE EXCUSES FOR CALLING OUT SICK

Or maybe you are at home, having used a timeless excuse like “sore throat” or “high temperature” or “car trouble”. I just hope you didn’t use one of these excuses, which a survey of managers reveals have really been used.

• Employee said his car broke down in Las Vegas during a weekend trip. (Employee lived in Maine, so it would’ve taken him the weekend just to get there.)

• Employee forgot he had been hired for the job

• Employee said her dog was having a nervous breakdown

• Employee said a squirrel started a fire in his garage

• Employee’s dead grandmother was being exhumed for a police investigation

• Employee said ex-girlfriend had broken into his apartment and stolen all of his clothes

• Employee won $200 in the lottery and celebrated too much over the weekend

• Employee said a bird bit her

• Employee got sick from reading too much

• Employee was suffering from a broken heart
