RAY FAMILY
My fiance was laid off a couple months ago from his job and now we make half we used to. We are 2100 dollars behind on rent. I lost my car and currently are driving cars we have borrowed. My friend had to help catch us up on our electric bill. We are so far behind and cannot possibly catch up and get our four children Christmas presents. Our familys have stretched their funds to help us as far as they can and now we stressing about “santa” leaving any presents under the tree. Our boys love transformers, ninja turtles, cars, tractors,or anything with wheels. Our girls love dolls, barbies, lala loopsy, or anything girly. They also LOVE board games!
THE ROBERTSON FAMILY
My daughter works and is going to school for Medical Assisting. She hardly ever gets to see her family. She is also on the deans list for her schooling…I am so very proud of her. Her husband also works very hard and it seems that they work opposite hours all the time so they don’t see each other much, but they have this awesome 2 year old little girl who is such a joy. This is actually my ex step-daughter who I consider mine because I helped raise her. She has had a very hard life. They could use clothing (as kids grow very fast). Any toys for a 2 year old. Even food for them or paying an electric bill would be great. They would appreciate anything that you could do for them. Thank you in advance.
HELP IS ON THE WAY
I’m not good at writing letters to explain things but here goes: Laura is a 20 year old single mom in need of more help than I can give. She has a 2 year old daughter who is just beautiful and deserves something nice. Ella, my granddaughter is just now realizing what it is to share with her cousins and I think deserves a little bit of the nice things in life. Laura does her best for her daughter but can’t really make things as nice as I would like to see. My job has cut my hours some more so me helping is a bit rough. Some of the things she needs to keep herself and daughter safe would be 2 new tires for her car and some engine work. She works late at a McDonalds and is on her own driving home late at night. Other items would be clothes for both Laura and Ella. Learning toys and books for Ella. (She loves it when I read to her). Any kind of toy for a 2 year old girl would be a good gift. Laura would be satisfied with just about anything anyone would give her. She did mention just the other day that she needs blue jeans and tops to make it through the winter. Ella needs some warmer clothing also. She tries really hard to make a good life for her daughter but a helping hand would do wonders for them both. Thank you
MY SISTER
My sister and her daughter are losing their home to foreclosure two days before Christmas. My sister is disabled due to Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes, and she has not worked for several years. She is currently hospitalized with a massive infection in her leg. She cannot buy her 13-year-old daughter any Christmas presents, and they are going to be homeless on Christmas day. Her daughter may not even have her mom with her on Christmas since she may still be hospitalized. It would mean so much to them to have a Christmas miracle on Christmas morning instead of the sadness and confusion they are currently facing. My niece is a young teenager and would love the things most young girls enjoy: trendy clothing, bath and body goodies, fun baubles, hair things, and books. She’s a good kid, and while no one deserves this kind of pain and stress in their lives, she especially doesn’t. My sister would appreciate any gifts for her daughter — I don’t even think she cares about gifts for herself, but I’d love it if you could remember her. She has always loved reading, and a gift card to Barnes and Noble or something similar would make her day. Please consider helping them out. You guys are awesome, and whatever family/individual you do end up helping out is so blessed.
THE CROUCH FAMILY
This family of four lost their home and had no insurance. The community has had a benefit for them but I am sure that there is still much more to be done. They have a son in the 6th grade, a year younger than my daughter…I can’t imagine what he is going thru..They are living with relatives right now Mom is unemployed and I am pretty sure Dad was between jobs too. I am only their mailady, this family has always been nice to me and it is heartbreaking to think they will have to worry about presents for their kids on top of everything else that has happened.
THE WEST FAMILY
The family I am nominating would never in a million years think anyone would do so. They are my friends and of the people I know they could use help. I am a Girl Scout leader with Maria and our children go to school together. Last month Maria got laid off from her job only to find out last week that her husband who worked at Hostess has also lost his job. As hard as it was with only one of them out of work it’s going to be even harder with them both out of work. The West’s would do anything for anyone. They are kind and helpful. They are pillars in our small community of Waterloo. They volunteer at our children’s school and give what they can. I can’t imagine how scared they both are. They have 2 girls one in 4th grade and one in 3rd grade and they are the two sweetest, well behaved girls I’ve met. They are very polite and never ask anything from anyone. When I heard about this contest I knew I had to throw their name in the ring. I hope you can help The West Family. I don’t know what their Family Gift List is. I know what they talk about the most is being together and making it through their hard time as a family. They are grateful for the support they get through our church and school and like I said would never ask for help so I thought instead of them asking, I’d try to just give them the help they deserve. Thank you for your consideration.
AMANDA COOK
I think Amanda Cook deserves to win as she is being let go from her job two weeks from now and has no other job. She has a six year old daughter and she is so worried she will not be able to afford any Christmas presents for her, As she also still has bills to pay and food to buy. She won’t even be able to afford a Christmas Tree. She is also a single mother struggling to make it by,and now no job
