Kellie Pickler has headed overseas to spread holiday cheer abroad. Pickler is just one of the celebrities that is taking part in Gen. Martin E. Dempsey’s annual USO holiday tour. Her first USO tour was in 2007, which she said was the most life-changing thing she had ever been a part of.
“It’s always different coming here this time of the year,” Pickler told the American Forces Press Service. “[During] the holidays — Thanksgiving has already passed — everyone wants to be home with their families and loved ones. Then, Christmas is right around the corner. It’s a hard time for all of you.”
She joined Gen. Dempsey in serenading the troops with ‘White Christmas,’ paying tribute to their hard work and sacrifice with a special dedication. “I just want to say thanks so much for all that you do,” Pickler told the assembled troops. “Thank you to your families — we know that they make a huge sacrifice.”
The singer added, “This time of the year is really hard so I hope that you know that we love you. The USO, all of us, we are praying for a safe return home for you all. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
