THE TOWER? THE TOWER?  RAPUNSEL, THE TOWER?

Captain’s log star date 06242009, Field Trip- The illustrious crew of SWIC AVIA 101 got to tour the very impressive Scott Air Force Base/Mid America Airport control tower on Tuesday night.

First off big thanks to Mr. Bobby Posey, Airman First Class Justin Kimble and Airman First Class Philip Stalling for being our gracious hosts.  I gotta  tell you gang, I was in second heaven.   First off the view was spectacular.  I believe Bobby said we were up 240’ and between the parallel runways of Scott Air Force Base and Mid America Airport.

Check out the photos in the gallery.  If you are an airplane enthusiast you will really enjoy the photos.   We did get lucky and see a two ship departure of KC-135 tankers and a couple of smaller planes land.

It’s a really cool and I feel confident that we will be speaking to each other much more often when I start flying in their pattern.  I hope the forgive me in advance for any faux pas I might make and will do my best not to bust any minimums.

Thank you again Bobby, Justin and Philip for your time and for making us feel right at home.
