I’VE LOOKED AT CLOUDS FROM BOTH SIDES NOW
Thanks again for joining the continuing adventures of my guest to complete my Private Pilot’s Ground School.
The 4th of July holiday is past and I had a little time to experience some of the weather phenomenon we talked about in class, namely severe thunderstorms. Granted I was on the ground and not in a plane but I know a lot of the how and why?
With some of the weather lesson at our backs like a strong wind, we move on to all the types of weather charts the Pilot can review to help them navigate safe air and avoid much of the nasty weather that can pop up almost unnoticed. I’ve learned what a METAR (Meteorological Aviation Routine) is and how to read it. I’ve looked at Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts learned the "lingo" and the acronyms. I have a lot more respect to Cindy, Mike, Scott and Anthony at KSDK.
Now the tough stuff...
Tonight's class at SWIC is all about FAA Regulations (dum dum duh)... This can be some pretty dry reading and has a lot of legalese in there. So I'd better pay close attention because the next Unit exam is on final for Thursday. This is one that will require us to bring our "A" game.
I'll let you know how things are going after the exam. Cross your fingers...
