21-year-old fallen Winfield marine, Lance Corporal Patrick W. Schimmel, killed on Sunday in Afghanistan will arrive in St. Louis this morning.

A homecoming ceremony is planned in Winfield following the airport ceremony this morning. (The procession leaves Lambert @ 9:00am.)

Schimmel was a 2006 graduate of Winfield High School. Earlier this week, flags in Winfield were flown at half-staff in honor of the marine.

A visitation for Schimmel will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held there on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Schimmel will then be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

From all of us at WIL, thank you for your service to our country LCpl. Schimmel. We find peace knowing that you will serve a higher purpose now.
