MY NEIGHBOR… MY HERO … MY UPDATE

Hey gang, a few weeks back I told you about my neighbor Trudy Strieker who trained for a long, long time to ready herself for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day, 60 mile walk.  Well it’s time to update you on the results.

SHE DID IT, and she has the blisters to prove it!  Trudy was one of  six ladies from the local area who flew to Boston in July to walk 20 miles per day for three days and  sleep in pink tents each night.

That feat barely touches the surface of the dedication of these amazing women.  Besides the walking, $25,000 was raised locally by holding a charity dinner/dance and auction.  (Besides Trudy, the other breast cancer survivors walking were:  Alice Bartlels and daughter Sara, Diane Martin and daughter Tammy, and Alice's niece Crystal Harman)

Another factor that can’t be overlooked was the involvement of several of the neighborhood children  who raised almost $300 by having lemonade stands.  All the money they raised also benefited Susan G. Komen. The involvement of the neighborhood was a huge boost for Trudy.

In celebration, Trudy invited her fellow walkers, the neighborhood kids and yours truly to pizza party. Boy was it good!!!

I hope you enjoy the photos and remember these fine ladies who spent a great deal of time, effort and money to make sure we find a cure for Breast Cancer.

 Ladies you ARE ALL heroes.
