I'll admit it, I LOVE living in St. Charles. Nothing against any other St. Louis burb, but our family digs it. Why? Well lots of reason, really. But Main Street is probably the MAIN reason! Have you been there? It's like stepping back in time, and on any given Summer night, you can grab an ice cream cone and wander the streets much like they did 200 years ago.
Oh, and there's almost ALWAYS something going on. I'm not sure there's any other town that goes to as much trouble to bring folks in on a regular basis. Seems like there is a festival every month during the Summer and Fall. And I would imagine the dozens of shops on Main Street appreciate the city's efforts. There's hardly ever an empty storefront downtown.
This weekend was a special one in Old Town St. Charles. It was our Bicentennial. 200 years of history was made official, and the town went all out...including a huge parade down Main...conducted much in the same fashion they did many years ago...with simplicity.
That's how we like it in St. Charles.
