The party details came via email the morning of the CMA's - Big Machine label party; 10 pm; aVenue on 3rd.
We were lucky enough to get invitations for all of us to attend the "friends and family" party and what we knew could be the big CMA post celebration of the night.
aVenue felt and looked like a club set up inside a barn. Lots of food all over the place. Our favorite - the cheesecake pops. The music blaring inside...guess. Guests also enjoyed watching the CMA's and Taylor's wins replay on multiple big screens set up inside.
It was a long exciting day for us - The Cornbread Morning Show wins CMA Major Market Personalities of the Year! And it was a LONG wait for Taylor Swift to show up.
As the night wore on, Cornbread and his wife Lisa; Pat and his wife Tracy; and Harry and his wife Donna decided to call it a night.
Mac and his wife Shelly and Brian & me...we didn't want the night to end.
And it paid off. We got a chance to congratulate Taylor on her clean sweep and record breaking win for Entertainer of the Year. We thanked her for the good luck cards she sent us a few months ago when she heard we were nominated. And as Mac & Brian told everyone they knew on Facebook...there were lots of hugs from Taylor.
She was different than the giddy teenager on TV we had just watched break a record. Her presence was not that of a 19 year old who has shaken up the country music industry.
She was centered. Understated.
Very appreciative to those in the room who stood by her along her journey but not an ounce of the immaturity you would expect and even forgive. She looks like a 19 year old but she certainly has an old soul.
There was a lot of talk in Nashville of a "changing of the guard" in country music led by Ms. Swift. Many will continue to question whether it was too soon to pass the torch to someone so young and unseasoned.
In those few moments with her, I would say otherwise.
