I honestly have no idea who I’m going to vote for in the next presidential election. I don’t even know which party I’m going to align myself with this time around. This has nothing to do with Mitt Romney dropping out.   Having said that, I was annoyed by something I heard on the radio this morning. I was channel surfing and stopped on a conversation about the Republican candidates.  The host was saying something like—“ I like Romney. I defended him on the whole Mormon thing.”  Huh?  I thought that was an odd and very misleading comment. Who are YOU to be so arrogant as to think Romney would want YOU to defend his religion?  And why does it need defending? Whether he’s Mormon, Jewish, Buddhist, Catholic or Muslim..why should it be defended? Isn’t this the problem?  Once you say the sentence “I defend him”—that puts everyone on alert. “Oh, he’s defending him, well that means there’s something to defend.

I’m certainly not trying to pick on this one host. It happens everyday on your local talk radio stations and on the cable network stations.  You have people giving their opinions and some people take it as “fact.”  There isn’t a test for these “talking heads” to speak about politics. I could do it (which believe me, you don’t want—I am not a scholar) and you could do it.  After I heard that statement, I thought, how easy it is to be swayed by what we hear and how powerful our words can be.  Once again..”Oh, he’s defending him..something is not right then, if he needs to be defended.

I’m just like you—I want information about the candidates.  It’s really hard to get the basic information like--What do they really stand for? What will (fill in the blank) do when he/she gets into office?  Health Care? Iraq? Economy? Education?--- So, many questions and too many people answering.
