TEAM BREADHEAD 2009 FAQ’s

Q:  Where can I get Tshirt Pickup times & locations, Race Day Meeting information, Maps and more?

A:  We are updating information constantly on our main Team Breadhead race page.  CLICK HERE!  If you still have more questions, keep reading here!

Q: When is the deadline to sign up?

A:  May 22nd at 12Noon is the online deadline.  If you choose to sign-up using a hard copy registration form, it must be mailed and postmarked by May 15th.  Or you can drop them off at our last minute in-person sign-ups May 19-21st.

Q: I have a group at work or church that wants to collectively join your team.  How do I create a sub-team under Team Breadhead?

A:  If you want to be recognized as a group within our team, that’s great!  It’s simple to do.  If you are signing up online and using the online registration, while going through the blank spaces and filling them in, you will come across "Field #4".  This is where you put the name of your sub-team.  If you are filling out a hard copy form that you printed out or picked up, it is the space called "Team Sponsoring Organization".  Make sure you all put the exact same spelling of your sub-team so they match.  It's that simple!  Then on t-shirt pickup day, one of you can come pick up for all of you at our t-shirt pickup locations.

Q:  I did not receive a confirmation email when I signed up online.  How do I know if I’m on the team, and will I need the confirmation to pick up my shirts?

A:  If you did not receive an email confirmation after your online registration, check your spam folder.  It may have been filtered.  If you still do not have it, no biggie!  Check out our team list to make sure you are registered here.  If you’re on the list, you’re golden!  (Online sign-ups appear on the Team immediately, if you signed up in person it may take days for you to show up on the Team List.)  Just bring a photo ID to pick up your shirts on the pick-up days.

Q:  Do I get a confirmation if I mail in or drop off a printed registration form?  Then how do I claim my t-shirts?

A:  No, you will not receive a confirmation if you signed up in person or sent in a form.  To pick up your shirts in this situation, simply bring your photo ID.

Q:  Can I pick shirts for other people?

A:  Yes.  If you are picking up for someone else, please just bring a copy of their registration confirmation or a copy of their photo ID.

Q:  How many race shirts do I get?

A:  TWO!  You get a Komen Race Shirt, and our Team Breadhead shirt.  Survivors who designate themselves as such get a special Pink Komen shirt.

Q:  Can I bring my kids on race day?  Do they have to sign-up to attend?

A:  Yes and No!  Children are encouraged to come, and are more than welcome to join our team.  Strollers and wagons are welcome.  Your child’s $25 registration fee will get them 2 children’s size t-shirts Youth size 10-12.  But they don’t HAVE to be registered to walk with you.  They just won’t get the coolest shirt in this year’s race!  Be aware, though, that in order to enjoy free Bandanas after the race, you need to have a shirt.

Q:  Can I bring my dog?

A:  Komen discourages pets during the Race for the Cure, except for assistance animals.

Q:  I cannot attend the race.  Is it still worth it to join Team Breadhead?

A: Yes!  We call you “Spirit Walkers” as you’ll be there with us in SPIRIT!  You’ll still be able to come by and pick up your shirts on t-shirt pick-up days.  And then you can wear your shirts proudly all year knowing you helped fight Breast Cancer!

Q:  How long is the race?

A:  You may participate as a runner or a walker in the 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles) or the 1-Mile Walk that will begin after the 5K Race/Walk begins.  Both walks are in a "U" shape, so ther finish is just a couple blocks from the start.

Q:  Do we walk together as a team?

A:  We’ve tried, but that’s pretty hard to do!  We encourage you to walk at your own pace.  Our moments together will be before and after the race!

Q:  How do I get the Bandana’s grub after the race?

A:  As soon as you finish the race, we invite you to walk back to 13th and Olive near the starting line where your TeamBreadhead t-shirt is your ticket to free BBQ from Bandanas, while it lasts!  PLEASE, only those with 2009 Team Breadhead t-shirts can enjoy the post race food.  We have a very limited amount of food and we want o make sure everyone gets some.  Everyone who wants to enjoy the Bandanas BBQ will need to have a Team Breahead t-shirt.  This may be an important consideration for you if you plan on walking with friends or family who are not on Team Breadhead.   We appreciate your understanding.

Q: What happens if it rains on Race Day?
A:  The Race for the Cure occurs rain or shine. However, they reserve the right to cancel the Race for the Cure in extreme circumstances. If the Race for the Cure is cancelled, no refunds will be issued. Instead, your entry fee, donations and pledges will be used as a donation to the Komen St. Louis Affiliate.

Q: Where do I park on Race Day?
A: W
e invite you to utilize any of the S&H Parking lots around downtown.  Please remember that not all lots will be open due to road closures near the race route, especially as the morning progresses.  Parking is also available on many of the city streets that are not located in the immediate vicinity of the Race Site. Garage and parking lot parking is available on a limited first-come basis. All parking fees and liability are the responsibility of the participant. The Metrolink schedule is available at www.metrostlouis.org.
