Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban Welcome Baby Girl

From People Magazine 7/7:

Nicole Kidman and her husband, Keith Urban, have welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, born Monday morning in Nashville, PEOPLE has confirmed.

“Husband Keith was by Nicole’s side, and mother and baby are very well,” said spokesman Paul Freundlich, who added that the couple were “delighted” to make the announcement. He also said the baby girl weighed 6 lbs., 7.5 oz.

The pregnancy was first announced in January. Kidman has two other children with her former husband Tom Cruise: Isabella, 15, and Connor, 13.

In the days leading up to the birth, the couple – who celebrated their second wedding anniversary on June 25 – didn’t stray from their normal routine in and around Nashville, where they reside in a gated community.

From early morning stops at a local Starbucks for warm drinks to a little sweat at the gym later in the day (Kidman was a regular at spin and yoga classes during her pregnancy), the couple remained low-key.

But getting ready for their baby was a priority. Urban admitted he was learning a new vocabulary for fatherhood and doing Lamaze lessons. “He doesn’t know the name [of the classes], but he has been very good at it!” Kidman told a local radio station on June 24.

The new parents also bought a couple of books to help them along: Pocket Dad: Everyday Wisdom and Your Pregnancy, Week By Week.

“The unknown excites me a lot,” Urban told reporters in May. “What kind of feelings will fatherhood bring? I’m sure I can’t even imagine, but I am really looking forward to finding out.”

Man & a Baby?

A pregnant man (a transgendered woman, if that helps explain) will appear on the Oprah Winfrey show tomorrow. And as Cornbread awaits the arrival of baby Elvis, he has been wondering if men can really handle all the things that come with parenting.

Aside from figuring out how to fold the stroller and pick out the right bottle liners, can men also handle the diapering, crying, feeding, lack of sleep, etc.?

My husband is Super Dad…and I get the impression that Pat James is too. They will do most anything and can handle it like pros. I think that’s why they were given baby girls to begin with. Let’s face it – girls can be more high maintenance.

The only thing my husband cannot handle is changing poopy diapers. Don’t get me wrong, he does it…often. But not willingly. And even after 2 years, every once in a while there is a diaper change that comes with some whining…and the baby is not the one whining. You should see the faces and noises he makes. I can hear the drama from across the house.

I really don’t get it. He’s so proud of his own accomplishments in that area. So much so that it gets an appointment on his calendar every day. And it’s a long appointment! So you would think he would be proud of his daughter. Or at least not so disgusted.

What do you think men can or can’t handle?

How Do You Calm A Cryin’ Baby?

My wife and I
have tried so many different ways to calm our little baby girl when she is
fussy. We hold her, we rock her, we walk, we sit, and we’ve even put her in the
car and went for a drive at all hours of the day and night.

But, believe it or
not, the thing that seems to always work is when I hold her while I’m playing
the piano. She calms down almost immediately and falls to sleep. The only
problem is, most of the time when I stop playing, she starts crying again. It’s
a good thing that I like to play! Click the video tab above to see for yourself.

So, I’m curious what different things have
you done to calm your cryin’ baby?
