Adult Cyber Bullying

We talk a lot about cyber bullying in reference to teens and students a lot. And there has been a big push in schools to try and put an end to cyber stalking and cyber bullying.

But what about adults who Cyber Bully?

I’ve seen a LOT of just plain meanness on Facebook and Twitter lately posted by adults. I’m not talking about political rants. I’m talking about folks that put down others to make themselves feel better. Or others who boast and brag about themselves or what they are doing because they don’t see that it is better to be unpretentious and be a positive person and not be bitter or mean.

I’ve always tried to tell both my son, Leo and my daughter, Shira to STAY CLASSY! Wether it be online, or in person. My daughter Shira had a LOT of cyber bullying on Facebook and Twitter directed toward her and is why she ended up graduating a year early and going to college. To be away from all the meanness on social media. I would never allow her to post anything negative back to those mean teens. I told her…stay “classy”, because in the end, they will move on to another victim.

Well, I see adults acting like children on Social Media and it’s just sad. What are they teaching their children?

Have you ever had someone Cyber Bully you as an adult? Would LOVE to hear your comments! And what other negative attributes on social media sites drive you nuts that your friends or groups have posted?

Have a GREAT Day!

Extrovert or Introvert

I am a big social media person. I love Facebook, love to tweet and Instagram. And my latest obsession is with Pinterest.

So I found this article fascinating! It’s based on a new study that can tell whether or not you are an Extrovert or an Introvert depending on how you use Social Media!

From what I read, my social media personality tends toward the “Extrovert”! (No surprise! LOL!) Which one are you?

Here’s the link! http://mashable.com/2012/08/13/what-type-of-social-media-personality-are-you-infographic/

The Study predicts the psychological types most likely to participate on specific social networks. More extroverts reported using Facebook than introverts, for instance. And people with inclinations toward Feeling spend more time browsing and interacting with people on Facebook, rather than those who tend toward Thinking.

Principal Spying

Allegedly this Clayton High School principal made a fake Facebook Page and had over 300 students as FB Friends. Was it to spy on the students to make sure they weren’t doing anything wrong? Bullying, drinking and such? Not sure of the reason why, but if it was the case that it was about monitoring the students, was it wrong of her to use such a method?

Take a listen and see what you missed this morning on the Cornbread Show! We just might be talking about it again!

Facebook drama!

Remember what we learned when we watched Social Network? Bitterness continues…Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss failed to convince the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco to reconsider its April 11 ruling upholding the $65 million cash-and-stock settlement they reached with Facebook in 2008. The brothers had complained the settlement was fraudulent because Facebook hid information from them.

… TMZ reports the Winklevoss twins have decided to take their beef with Facebook to the Supreme Court. HEY WINKLEVOSS BOYS…I know you are bitter but you are continuing to waste our tax dollars…and gas is $4 bucks a gallon. KNOCK IT OFF!!! Rrooff!!!

Facebook Releases your Contact Info

A tweak to Facebook’s permissions and privacy settings means third-party developers can now access your home address and phone number, warned security firm Sophos.

Facebook announced Friday night a minor change of settings that expands the data people share with external websites and apllicat Facebookers now expressly grant third-party apps like Farmville and sites the right to see your address and phone number via the standard permissions dialogue — although the social network maintained that the new changes would not provide access to the data of a user’s friends.

Facebook has pulled the feature temporarily until it “makes updates and improvements” following the backlash over privacy issues.

TO BE SAFE, PROTECT YOUR PRIVACY:

There are 2 places on your Facebook account you need to check.

1. Privacy Settings: Either delete your contact information (anything you dont want shared) and/or you customize your settings to ONLY ME.

2. Application Settings: For each application attached to your account, check to see if that app accesses your “Contact Information.” If it does, you want to consider deleting the application from your account. When you add a new application, take a second to review what information the app accesses from your account.

Addicted to Farmville

I do believe I’ve become addicted to Farmville. But I don’t take complete blame, thank you very much! I blame my wonderful Facebook friends who got me to start playing Farmville and then continue me on the path of Farmville addiction by enticing me with lots of free gifts and animal hands!

I can’t help myself! The thrill of constantly acquiring new items or leveling up can be very addicting. Are you like me? All kidding aside, I love Farmville but I can give it up (and actually have) if I want to. But if you are a true addict, you are not alone! Farmville is one of the most popular Facebook games and you can always find new Farmville friends.

So I was curious about how someone were to go about quitting Farmville! And, of course, wouldn’t you know that eHow had some tips! Of COURSE I will share them with you, but just so YOU know, I still am not giving up Farmville yet! But I will let my plots sit longer before I seed ! LOL! Here are the tips to Quit Farmville Addiction:

  1. Admit that you have a problem with Farmville addiction. You cannot treat the problem if you do not admit it exists. Look back on how much time you spent on Farmville last week. If you regret spending all of that time on the game or believe you could have better spent the time doing something else more productive, then you likely have a problem.

  2. Block all of Farmville messages on Facebook account in the account settings section. Once activated, you will not receive any messages from your friends or administrators about the Farmville game. A major draw of Farmville is that the developer is constantly adding new items that can be purchased as well as interacting with your friends about the game. Once you stop receiving messages about Farmville, you will stop thinking about the game.

  3. Remove all trees and animals that require constant care from your farm. Plant only crops have long growing seasons such as potatoes. This will keep you from constantly going back to log into the game and prevent you from planting new crops as your plots will all be occupied.

  4. Delete your Farmville neighbors so that you are not tempted to play by your friends. You should tell them you are cutting down with Farmville so they can help you avoid the game. Many people are willing to help out when they find out that you want to stop playing the game. You may even give your friends an excuse to quit themselves. Nothing is more powerful than quitting together.

  5. Schedule other activities at a time when you normally would spend to playing Farmville. Good examples are scheduling exercise, yoga, reading a book etc. Exercise in particular can provide a similar high as Farmville and can also be just as enjoyable. Exercising also has the advantage of getting you into shape.

  6. Find some non-Farmville friends to spend your time with. Many people who quit playing Farmville miss the social interaction from the game. Finding friends who do other activities will give you new interests to spend you time.

  7. If none of these ideas cure the Farmville addiction, you should consider going cold turkey by uninstalling the game completely. This may be difficult at first, but after a few weeks you will completely forget about the Farmville.

  8. And last but not least! My own personal add on….get into Mafia Wars! Or Cafe World! Or any of the other hundreds of Facebook games! Kidding! Now, GO READ A BOOK AND TURN ON WIL!!! :) ))))
