The 10th annual 2008 Susan G. Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure® is coming Saturday, June 21st in Downtown St. Louis! And once again Team Breadhead is back to raise awareness and help stomp out Breast Cancer. Last year’s St. Louis race was our biggest ever! 66,762 participants helped raise over $2.6 Million dollars for Breast Cancer research and prevention, much of it being utilized right back here in our area.

Once again, in 2008 Team Breadhead will be the biggest team in the St. Louis Komen Race For The Cure! And you helped us raise over $113,000 to fight breast cancer. To everyone who signed up this year, thank you! We look forward to walking with you June 21st!

TEAM BREADHEAD T-SHIRT PICKUP DETAILS
Team Breadhead members will receive TWO T-Shirts! We have secured a NEW LOCATION FOR PICKUPS THIS YEAR! You will need to pick them up in person at WESTPORT PLAZA in Maryland Heights, MO. from 7am-6pm June 18 – 20. We will be in an empty building at #519 Westport. Walk past the Bread Company, Train Wreck and keep going straight. It will be “kitty-corner” from The Funny Bone Comedy Club” and across from Cold Stone Creamery. (CLICK HERE FOR A MAP) If you cannot make it during those times, we will have one last chance to get your shirts at our team meeting site the morning of the race. You will NOT be able to pick up your shirts at any other location on any other day or anytime AFTER the race.

CORNBREAD’S SPIRIT WALKERS
Can’t make the race? You can still be on our team in spirit. Join Team Breadhead and still receive the shirts to show your support! However, YOU WILL STILL NEED TO PICK UP YOUR TEAM BREADHEAD T-SHIRT AND KOMEN SHIRT at WESTPORT PLAZA in Maryland Heights, MO. from 7am-6pm June 18 – 20. (Sorry, we cannot mail them. If you do not pick them up during those designated times, we cannot guarantee we will have shirts left after the race.)
SLEEP IN FOR THE CURE
If you checked “Sleep In For The Cure” during sign-up and paid the extra $10 to have your Komen Shirt mailed to you, it should arrive from the Komen folks within 2-4 weeks after the race. However, YOU WILL STILL NEED TO PICK UP YOUR TEAM BREADHEAD T-SHIRT at WESTPORT PLAZA in Maryland Heights, MO. from 7am-6pm June 18 – 20 (Sorry, we cannot mail them. TEAM BREADHEAD RACE DAY INFORMATION
The St. Louis Komen Race For The Cure is more than just a race. Many people arrive downtown early to take in all the activities and just absorb the inspirational spirit of the morning. We especially invite you to see the Survivors Procession at 7:25! Meanwhile, our team members have just a few important appointments we ask you to make that morning.

7:30-8am: Team Breadhead meets in Memorial Park near 13th & Olive. Last minute Team Breadhead shirt pickups will be available here.
8:30am: Team photo across the street on St. Louis Library steps. (Photos will later be made available for purchase online at komenstlouis.org.)
8:45am: 5K Run begins
9:00am: 5K Walk begins
9:15am: 1K Fun Walk begins
11:00-12:30pm: Wear your Team Breadhead ’08 shirt to get a free lunch from Bandana’s BBQ back at the starting line at 16th & Olive! (Team members only, please. Thank you!)
PARKING: We invite you to utilize any of the S&H Parking lots around downtown. Please remember that not all lots will be open due to road closures near the race route, especially as the morning progresses.
METROLINK: The easiest way to avoid traffic is to take MetroLink. For our team, get off at the Scottrade/Civic Center stop, turn left and take 14th Street north about 6 blocks until you come to Memorial park on your right at Olive Street. We’ll be over a block at 13th & Olive.
MetroLink will be operating early and on more frequent intervals on Race Day. Trains begin as early as 4:48 a.m.! Enhanced 10-minute service begins at 5:30 a.m. And dont’ forget to use one of the nearly 9,000 free parkride spots at MetroLink Stations. Plus for this weekend event, there are 800 additional spots in the parking structure at the Clayton MetroLink Station, available for free. Simply Park and Ride to the Race.
Metro Day Passes and Tickets can be purchased in advance at many grocery stores and retail locations throughout the area as well as from Ticket Vending Machines at all MetroLink Stations on Race Day. Round-Trip MetroLink Adult Fare is $4.00, or for the ultimate convenience, you can buy a Day Pass for $4.50, and ride all day! Other valid passes and tickets are acceptable fare.
